Wardwick Wells to Sampson Cay

We spent two nice peaceful days at Wardwick Wells and then we moved on to the Sampson Cay Marina where we would be protected from a front coming with up to 50 mph winds. Carleigh, Cat's Paw, and Oconnee also decided to go there for the same reason.

This was the first location since leaving the US that we had access to a laundry. So first on my list was to wash everying on the boat. It was a total of 5 loads including sheets and beach towels.

Bob and I walked to several of the beaches on Sampson Cay until the winds were too strong. That gave me a chance to do some boat cleaning and book reading. I've been reading a book on the Cocaine Wars and how Norman's Cay was used as a transfer point from Columbia to the US. The Bahamas are such a different (and very safe) place now.

One of the megayachts in the marina had been playing with a go fast boat in the very shallow area off the docks and ran aground. A dinghy that was also part of the larger boats toys, helped to pull it free, but permanent damage was done to the fast boat.

Thursday night we discovered that we receive the NFL station and we had Carleigh over to watch the Cowboys play the Saints. Great game - Rita-Kay and Clay are huge Cowboys fans.

In the spirit of Christmas, Sunday evening before Christmas Cat's Paw, Oconee, Carleigh, and us decided to have a Christmas Open House on our boats to see each other's Christmas decorations. In the meantime, Carleigh unfortunately decided to leave the marina and move on toward Staniel Cay, so they missed our party. It was a fun evening seeing each of our boats at Christmas.

All things come to an end. The weather finally improved after several days in the marina, so we all headed out for other places to anchor.
