Every year, the Staniel Cay Yacht Club has a Pirate Party on the 29th of December. People flock to the club from all over the area, plus a number of large megayachts cross over for the party. We were anchored off the docks of the Yacht Club, which was about half full at 4 PM yeaterday, and watched about 6 megayachts arrive before sunset!
We enjoyed our dinner watching the arrival of all the yachts and listening to the radio traffic directing them all in to the dock - not unlike the radio traffic of airplanes and the airport towers.
People started arriving for the party around 8, some in costume and some not. We put together our costumes from what we had on board. We have a toy parrot on board, and we decided to take him with us. The parrot looks pretty real and since it moves remarkable like a real parrot, it really fooled a lot of folks from a distance and thrilled the Bahamian children that cruised through early in the evening to see all the costumes.

Some of our friends, used to early bedtimes, did not join us, but many did including Rita-Kay and Clay on Carleigh, Paul and Susan off Independence, Pete and Chris off Scooter, and Bruce and Debi off Different Drummer. A great time was had by all!
Today there is a free cookout paid for by the regatta committee and a fund-raising auction. We're looking forward to this next event!
