In Route to George Town

Just to let you know that we are planning on leaving Friday when we have a weather window to head to George Town, Exumas. If all goes well, we should be there on Sunday. We won't have Internet service till we get there, so no need to look for updates till then. Hope all is well with you.

We made it back

We made it back to the boat the morning of Saturday, February 21st, having left on Wednesday following the graveside service. On Wednesday, we drove to DC and spent the night with Bob's son-in-law. We missed seeing his daughter by an hour as she had to fly to California for the funeral of her maternal grandfather.

Thursday, we drove to Florence, SC (with a stop home to exchange clothes again for warmer climes), where we dropped my son Mike off with his family, and then on to Ft. Lauderdale on Friday. Saturday morning, we were at the Watermakerair hanger at 6 AM for a 7 AM flight to Staniel Cay. We then were picked up by the shuttle boat from Sampson Cay Marina to take us to the marina where the boat was docked. Everything was in place when we returned, having been ably watched over by Al on Grace, and Rock the Dock master. I had been gone one day less than 3 weeks, while Bob had been gone 11 days.

Needless to say it is good to be back on the boat.

I have a number of great photos to post taken from the flight over and back, and ones I took of Mark and Shirley on the flight back as it turned out I was on that flight also.

In Loving Memory - Priscilla Drushler - 8/24/42 - 2/11/09

I am sorry to report that my sister passed away on February 11, 2009 at the Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, FL. It is really hard to lose a sister. She had gone to the hospital on January 30 with severe pain in her stomach that wasn't diagnosed until 3 days later as a perforated ulcer. She had experienced breathing problems and was on a ventilator when I arrived on Sunday, February 1st. She made it through the surgery, but never fully recovered. She had yeast infections in her blood and in her abdomen, along with pneumonia. At one point she was also on dialysis for 3 days as well.

A healthy person would have had a hard time overcoming these problems, my sister, who suffered with chronic pain for the last 20 years as a result of neck surgery that went awry, could not overcome them.

Bob flew back to the Ft. Lauderdale and rented a car and drove over to St. Petersburg and picked me up. We picked up my son, Michael in South Carolina and drove home in one day. We got our winter clothes and switched to our larger car for a more comfortable drive to Rochester, NY for the funeral. The funeral will be this evening following a viewing from 4 to 7. We will fly back to Staniel Cay this Saturday and resume out travels south in the Exumas.

To my sister, may she now rest in peace.

Little Side Trip

Hi all, just wanted to tell you that we are fine. I needed to go to St. Petersburg to be with my very sick sister, Priscilla, so I am with her in Florida. Bob is at a marina in the Bahamas sitting out a storm on the boat.

I should be back on the boat next week, if things continue to progress with Pris.
