Staniel Cay to George Town, Exuma

(Photos have now been fixed)

Every February, I make a run back to the states for a scheduled doctor appointment. It gives me a chance to see some of the family (although I only had 2 days this time and not enough time to see anyone but Mindy and family - note to self: make it for 3 days next year.)

Ray on No Agenda took us with his large dinghy over to Staniel Cay and then took us with his gold cart to the airfield where we waited for the tiny Flamingo Air plane to take me to Nassau.

As it turned out, Karen, a friend of Janie on Pirate, was on the same flight to Nassau with me. It was great having someone to have lunch with in Nassau while waiting for our respective flights. We got to explore part of the new terminal at the Nassau Airport. It is quite a nice building and light years over the old one. They will eventually tear down the old part used by the local flights and replace that after the International terminal is fully completed.

Leaving Staniel Cay

We had decided to name the little beach used by the cruisers as "Pirate Beach" and made this sign before we moved on from the Staniel area.

We made a stop for the night at Black Point Settlement south of Staniel Cay so we could have dinner one more time at Lorainne's Cafe. We also walked a sound side beach there and collected some sea glass.

We pass an island called "Musha Cay" that is owned by David Copperfield. He rents these houses out for huge amounts of money to "invited guests" only.

Another, even bigger villa on Musha Cay

We stopped for the night in a lovely anchorage where we were the only boat and ended up staying two nights. The next day, we went out to that island in the photo below to the beach on the other side and spending the afternoon. It was a very peaceful interlude before jumping in to the fray at George Town.

We then moved on to George Town where there are about 300 boats in the harbor at one time in the winter months. Here we caught back up with our friends on Carleigh, Pirate, My Sharona, Different Drummer, Barefootin', Smiles, Pisces, and others too numerous to mention.

I have more photos to post of our time in George Town so far, however, my time is about up for Internet. I'll have to go purchase more minutes and post more later.
