After several weeks in George Town, we decided it was time to move on to Long Island. We really enjoy this island and its people.
The day after we arrived, we went with a group of cruisers to a "Mutton Fest" put on by The Department of Agriculture and Marine Fisheries. A school bus had been arranged to take us. They had a few small pens for sheep and goats on display as well as a few hens. In addition, there were about 8 craft tables of the work of local crafters. For the kids there was a bounce house.

At 4 O'Clock they held the opening ceremonies for the two day event. School children from the seven schools on the island were there to present songs, dances, poem recitation, and musical numbers.

Each school have their own unique uniform in the Bahamas. Sure wish the schools did that in the US.
They ended the show with a Junkinoo Band coming through the center of the building. I had to plug my ears it was so loud.
Next blog post will be the Long Island Rally of sailboats coming from George Town for which we served as one of the committee boats - a first for us.
