Sunday, however, was another story. We woke up to a clear bright blue sky - what a relief! Temperature was still a little chilly, bur overall a much better cruising day.
We passed through Charleston harbor and I got this photo.
Crossing Charleston Harbor
We spent the night at the Beaufort, SC Downtown Marina. Lovely marina and quaint town. The main reason we stayed there was so that Bob could find a sports bar where we could watch the Redskins game, which again started out promissing and turned to dissapointment. Darn
Passing the Thunderbolt Marine Service Facility known for large boat repair.
We got up on Monday to another nice clear day and travelled down past Savannah to the Isle of Hope area where we will be till Saturday. We need to get a little maintenance done on the boat. We will meet for dinner with Grant, of Belezza that we met last year. We met Grant and Brenda from Vancouver last year in the Bahamas. They had left their boat in the Savannah area for the summer and are now preparing to leave for the Virgin Islands this week. Brenda decided that she would return home while Grant and his crew, take the boat to the VI and then join him when they get there. Unfortunately, we just missed her by a day. It was great to get caught up with Grant.
We will also get a chance to visit with Bob's former boss, Mark and his wife Shirley while we are here.
With the curve in the river right before the marina, we get a nice view of the oncoming boat traffic during the day.
