Crossing the Great Bahama Bank
We left February 1st to cross the Great Bahama Bank on our way to Chub Cay in the group of islands called the Berry Islands. It is really quite shallow for open water. There is a really shallow area about half-way to Chub Cay (Cay is pronounced Key). We dropped the anchor for the night there. It was probably the most peaceful night we have had. Imagine, being the only boat with nothing but water around you, no land in sight, and millions of stars above. There was a little glow to the Northwest horizon which we determined must have been the Miami area, but that was it. It was nice that the water was calm too.
