We are here in George Town planted in Kidd Cove. We are waiting for an exhaust elbow to arrive from the states. It missed the plane (that comes once a week on Wednesday), so it will be next Wednesday before it arrives. Our stateside mechanic has advised we not run that engine (starboard engine) until we make the repair, so unless we only want to go in circles, I guess we will be where we are.
Local school children exersising in the local park.
As it turns out, this week is the cruisers regatta week. Since the Pretty Penny is not a sailboat, we won't be in the regatta itself (regatta circles Stocking Island that is a barrier island next to Great Exuma island and provides the lovely harbor), but will be part of the spectators.
There are events happening every day. They include Texas Hold'em Tournament, Bridge Tournament, Volleyball Tournament, Pet Parade, Variety Shows, dances, golf tournament, among others. We will participate in the Texas Hold'em Tournament as it turns out, it is something I am pretty good at (although I have yet to make the top 5 winners - I have made it to the last table 2 out of the three times I've played). Who new?
Monday the opening ceremonies were held on Volleyball Beach. There was a pet parade with all the four-legged cruising buddies showing off their finery, followed by a "no talent" show, followed by a dance. We are lucky to have "Rockin Ron" off of Sea Dancer to serve as our DJ.
I took some photos of the cute pets strutting their costumes.
This boater, not having a four-legged friend aboard, but wanting to join in the parade entered his "pet chicken" - proving that boaters have a sense of humor!

Tuesday, most everyone headed for better anchorages to sit out the cold front coming through. We had winds that "howled" around the boat. Had to have been gusts to 40 mph. Luckily, where we were was not too bad a location, which was a good thing considering it would be problematic to move at present.
The weather has calmed now, although still a bit chilly. Even the Bahamians say this has been an odd winter with all the high winds and chillier temps. Our weather forecaster says that will all change soon for the better and we and all the boaters are looking forward to that.
